Unless we make changes, in the long term, the price is only going up.
Our basic freedoms are at risk. For 35 years we have let our politicians pander to the environmental extremists. I think it’s time to drill for some oil.
Things we must do:
1. Open drilling to all economically feasible sites that can be ecologically protected.
2. Build new refineries. No new refineries have been constructed in the US in 30 years.
3. Build new Nuclear power plants. The rest of the world is ahead of the US on this.
4. Open lands to shale oil production in the US.
5. Get rid of any politician that doesnt work towards the goal of energy independence.
The US trade deficit for oil in March was $24.6 billion dollars. We are financing the terror war against us. We are a capatilist Nation with the best enviromental technology in human history under our belts. It is time to tell Washington to get it done or get out!
Chad, you are right about our need for energy independence. However, there is one point you seem to be missing. The reason no refineries are being built is because the oil producers want it that way! A scarce commodity is worth more than a plentiful commodity whether it’s oil, diamonds, or potatoes. The oil companies make more when oil is scarce than when it is plentiful, by controlling the supply. If they build more refineries, oil is more plentiful, and the oil producer’s profit per gallon goes down. The producers have no incentive to produce more oil. The oil business is the only legal monopoly in america, and we should be electing leaders that don’t take orders from oil companies (or banks, or insurance companies, for that matter).
